RIP:Robert Morris, Developer of Unix : Source: Washington Post
This obituary column in the Washington Post attracted my attention. We have a lot to thank Robert Morris for and wish him peace and his family the strength they need.
Also wanted to add this link to Robert Tappan Morris professor at MIT and son of son of the late Robert Morris . REad the wikipedia page - it is interesting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Tappan_Morris
Robert Morris, 78, a mathematician and cryptographer who was among the top U.S. computer security experts and a leading developer of the widely used Unix operating system, died June 26 at a hospital in Lebanon, N.H. He had complications from dementia.
At Bell Laboratories in the 1970s, Mr. Morris worked on the security protocols for the Unix computer operating system. Today, Unix-based operating systems can be found on millions of Apple iPhones and iPads.
He also wrote a program called Sky that tracked astronomical bodies and predicted their position at a given time. The program was so accurate that it was adopted by the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, his family said.
